Oak Hill Plaza to Undergo Renovations under new BBD Commercial Ownership

Oak Hill Plaza, a local shopping center located at 7101 Hwy. 71, is due to undergo a face-lift under the management of BBD Commercial, an Austin-based real estate development firm. In a press release dated March 4, the new owners of the shopping center announced that construction will begin on May of this year. The scope of the renovation work will encompass the 115,512 square feet of space near the Y at Oak Hill intersection where Hwy. 290 and Hwy. 71 converge in Southwest Austin. The renovation work will include landscaping, a resurfaced parking lot, and expansion work to accommodate new businesses.

BBD’s plans on the well-loved shopping center is geared toward “invigorating the roster” of businesses in the area. After renovation, there will be approximately 36,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space available, with suites ranging from 1,220 square feet to 15,000 square feet. Bill Ott, the company spokesperson for BBD, says that the company is expecting additional tenants when the expansion work is finally completed.

“We’ve received a lot interest from prospects in the local market, as well as a positive reaction from neighbors about our efforts to renovate the plaza and to cater to the area by recruiting businesses that are good fits for the neighborhood.”

The project will be handled by the architects of Noack-Little and the Engen Contracting construction team. With a six-month construction time frame, the locals of Southwest Austin should eagerly look forward to the new face, lighting, landscape, and signage of a much-improved Oak Hill Plaza.
